MIDDLESBROUGH TOWN MEAL MOVES INDOORS

THE Middlesbrough Town Meal, taking place tomorrow, has been moved into Middlesbrough Town Hall due to the likelihood of strong winds. The Town Meal is the town’s flagship event for promoting homegrown food. It was originally set to be outside in Centre Square from noon to 4pm tomorrow (Saturday, September 25) but will now take place at the same time in Middlesbrough Town Hall and Crypt. The decision was taken due to a Met Office warning of strong winds in the Middlesbrough area. The vast majority of events are still taking place including the serving of the meal, the wide range of food and health stalls and fruit and veg competitions.

Chef demonstrations are due to happen outside if it is safe to do so. Activities which have been cancelled include the Bouncy Castle and some of the arena activities.

The meal, which attracted 10,000 people last year, is an annual free celebration of the many growing projects throughout the year in Middlesbrough.

Councillor Brenda Thompson, Executive Member for Public Health and Sport, said: “We still plan to have a fantastic day and everyone is invited to come along and join in the fun.”

Access to the Town Hall and Crypt is via Albert Road and Corporation Road respectively.
