Healthy Town programme hits the road!
Middlesbrough’s Healthy Town programme is hitting the road to spread the word on how easy it is to be healthy.
Three Healthy Town Roadshows are taking place in the town on Thursday and Friday this week.
The roadshows will be the first chance for the public to see the brand new Middlesbrough FC Health Bus.
The roadshows will also launch the Healthy Town programme’s new promotional campaign to combat negative perceptions about getting active and being healthy.
And on top of that the roadshows will feature healthy food demonstrations, play activities for kids and mechanics from Middlesbrough Cycle Centre will be on hand to help fix bikes and give out information on cycling in Middlesbrough.
The roadshows take place:
- Outside the Rainbow Leisure Centre, Coulby Newham on Thursday, August 26, 10am – noon
- Adjacent to the Captain Cook Museum in Stewart Park on Thursday, August 26, 2pm – 4pm
- In Corporation Road near BHS on Friday, August 27, 10am – 4pm
The Middlesbrough FC Health Bus is set to become a well-known sight around the Teesside area.
Its very first outing will be at this week’s roadshows. On board there will be a high-tech full body analyser to give people an accurate assessment of their health, an interactive health quiz together with loads of information about keeping healthy.
The Healthy Town programme’s new promotional campaign aims to encourage more people to cycle, choose healthy food options, visit and exercise more in the parks and open spaces and to understand that there are many different opportunities to stay fit and healthy even if the weather stops you getting out and about.
With slogans such as “It’s easier than you think to be more active in Middlesbrough” the campaign aims to debunk inaccurate negative perceptions about getting healthy.
The posters, which will be seen in bus shelters and on buses, feature real people and families from Middlesbrough.
