| Library Christmas Opening |
| All libraries will close at 12.30pm on Christmas Eve and remain closed between Christmas and New Year, except for Central Library which will be open the following times over the Christmas period: Saturday 27th December 9.30am - 5pm Monday 29th December 9.30am - 5pm Tuesday 30th December 9.30am - 5pm Wednesday 31st December 9.30am -12.30pm All libraries will be open as normal from Friday 2nd January. |

| Cemeteries and Crematorium |
| All cemeteries will be open as normal over the Christmas period. Acklam Cemetery and Crematorium offices will however be closed from 3.30pm on Christmas Eve, closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day. |
| Christmas Parking Arrangements |
| All Middlesbrough Council's car parks will remain open and staffed until 9.30pm on Thursdays in December. They will also stay open until 8.30pm for the last week and a half of late night shopping before Christmas, Monday 15th until Tuesday 23rd December. Car Parks will be open until 7.30pm on Saturday 20th December and until 6pm on Sunday 21st and 28th December, Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. They will be open until 7.30pm on Boxing Day. Car Parks will be closed Christmas Day and New Years Day. |
| Out of Office Stray Dog Service |
| This service will continue as usual throughout the Christmas period with collections until 8pm with the exception of Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day when there will be no collections. However, our kennels will accept strays in an emergency if the dog is taken directly to them. |
| Infrastructure Maintenance |
| All infrastructure maintenance will be on hold during the holiday period, to restart in January 2009. Anything of an emergency nature can be dealt with by contacting the call centre on 01642 726001 or through the out of hours number on 01642 726050. |

Following the review of Recycling and Waste Services and the move to a four day working week, the level of disruption caused to the collection service by these holidays will be reduced. There will be no collections on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day. Collections will be as follows: | |
| Green Waste Recycling | |
| Fortnightly collections of green waste has ceased until February 2009. Green waste collections will resume on Tuesday February 3rd 2009. Please refer to your refuse & recycling calendar for your specific collection dates. | |
| Real Christmas Trees Recycling Collection | |
| Christmas trees will be collected for composting early in the New Year. This is indicated with a green star on the collection calendar. Also please note that 'real' Christmas trees can be put out for collection, on designated days, between Tuesday 6th January 2009 & Friday 16th January 2009. Again, please refer to your refuse & recycling calendar for your specific collection dates. | |
| Recycling Bring Site Facilities | |
| The bring sites are available over the festive period for people to recycle their excess recyclable waste such as papers, magazines, glass & cans. The Household Waste Recycling Facility at Haverton Hill is closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day, but is open all other days from 8am - 6pm. At this facility residents can recycle a range of materials, including cardboard, batteries, hard plastic (toys), bikes, computers, televisions and other electrical equipment. |
